Latex Repair Guide

What We Can and Cannot Repair

Discolouration of latex generally cannot be repaired unless the affected panel is completely removed and replaced. This is the only way to fully eliminate staining. You can read more about latex care and discolouration in our care guide.

Most torn latex can be repaired. The method used depends on your budget and the result you want to achieve.

Methods We Use to Repair Torn Latex

Backing repair (small tears)

The most affordable repair method. An additional layer of latex is applied behind the tear. The damage will remain visible, but the latex will be structurally secure.

Appliqué repair (concealing damage)

If you prefer the tear not to be visible, we can apply decorative appliqués such as shapes, lettering, or motifs. These can cover only the damaged area or be extended across the garment for a cohesive design.

Panel replacement (invisible repair)

The most expensive option. The damaged panel is fully removed, recut, and replaced so the repair is not visible. This process is time-consuming and carries risk, as dismantling the garment can cause further tearing. For highly complex garments or large tears, replacement may be more cost-effective. If you proceed with this method, all risk of additional damage is accepted by the customer. We will take the utmost care and consult you before continuing if further tearing occurs, but we cannot accept financial responsibility.

Edge reinforcements

If a tear originates from an edge, we can add reinforcements along all edges to reduce the risk of future damage. We always reinforce edges on thin and medium-weight latex garments we produce. Many brands omit this step to reduce costs, which makes garments significantly more prone to tearing. We recommend checking for reinforced edges when purchasing latex garments.

Important Repair Notes

Latex that has previously been shined may be more difficult to repair, as latex glue does not bond as strongly to shined surfaces. While repairs are still possible, the new bond may be slightly weaker and extra care should be taken when wearing the garment.
